For Immediate Release
TORONTO YOUTH FROM RIVAL NEIGHBORHOODS ARE COMING TOGETHER STAGING THE SHOWCASE THAT HAS EVERYONE TALKING: POETIC FASHION
(Toronto, Canada) Fresh from speaking to the media July 3rd, 2009 on empowering youth in Toronto after the high profile murder of her own 11-year-old-brother, Executive Producer Amiga Taylor and her affiliate organization "Literature For Life" will be showcasing the most controversial youth event of the year on Thursday August 27th, 2009 at the Capitol Event Theatre, 2492 Yonge Street (North of Eglington) at 7pm. Poetic Fashion is building a culture of literacy and learning for at-risk youth across the GTA plus deconstructing labels built on youth stereotypes. A huge ensemble of music, fashion, spoken word showcases and more will be displayed with talent across the board to help empower Toronto youth. "Stop the violence! Break through bridges, not barriers."
“Already in rehearsals these youth have found common ground with one another and recognize the positive initiatives in what they are accomplishing,” said Jo Altilia, CEO and Founder of Literature for Life. “This is the first of our annual Poetic Fashion showcase and is important in acknowledging the decrease in crime by encouraging a productive lifestyle for all Toronto youths.” Other music artists performing include Wolf, Jaydaman and more surprise guests. We also have several media opportunities to interview all musical artists, Toronto Youth Counselors, Politicians, Performers and audience members. Poetic Fashion will welcome upwards of 500 guests and features 10 spoken-word artists, 17 performers, 5+ designers and 20 models. Special guest Anthony Morgan, President of BLSAC (Black Lawyers Student Association of Canada), will provide an opening speech. Special prizes from Flow 935, Vivid Beauty Designs, Urbanology Magazine and more will be raffled off to guests and free product from our sponsors will be provided. Dubbed as a fun, meaningful and exciting event the media should not miss. A must for every media outlet to attend. Toronto youth are changing their outlook. Please confirm as soon as possible to Keminications Public Relations via phone or e-mail and Literature For Life thank you for all your media support.
Literature for Life is a Toronto-based charitable organization committed to engaging at-risk youth families by building a culture of literacy and learning.
